Chronology
TV series based on the Alex Cross novels by James Patterson
Alex Cross uses forensic psychology to analyze killers, immersing himself in the victim’s mind, and psychics to identify killers and bring them to justice. Aldis Hodge talks about starring in and producing the crime drama ‘Cross,’ making a name for himself as an actor and producer, and his commitment to fostering diverse storylines through his production work. Hodge is the third actor to play Cross, following in the footsteps of Morgan Freeman, who first played him on screen in 1997’s Kiss the Girls and again in the film’s 2001 sequel, Along Came a Spider; and Tyler Perry as the title character in 2012’s Alex Cross, which bombed at the box office and led Lionsgate to cancel a previously planned sequel to Double Cross. I really don’t understand the low ratings and the very harsh words about the series.
I don’t understand what you expected
I wonder if there are other intentions behind these ratings. The show is beautifully shot, with great cinematography, direction, music, and more. The stylistic choices are based on D.C. Alex Cruz’s depth as a character is immediately apparent, as is his flow, just like any other human being.
Is this something that hasn’t happened before?
He’s trying to overcome the death of his wife while dealing with grief, a serial killer case, and someone stalking his family. The supporting cast does a great job, and I love how we can follow 2 stories at once. There are times when you don’t know where the story is going, and there are twists and turns that you never expected. No, but for the most part it’s done well.
The acting is top-notch, and Aldis steals the show
Now, there are a few plot holes that make you question something, but they’re not big enough to distract you from watching the show. If I have one recommendation, and the producers read on, it’s to focus a little more on their forensic psychology degree next season. We’re not just talking about a detective who took a few profiling classes, we’re talking about a guy with a PhD in psychology, a PhD in forensic psychology. Don’t reduce this trait to some cute “I know how killers think” kind of thing that’s done over and over again.
