A grief-stricken therapist begins to tell his clients exactly what he thinks
He finds himself making big changes to people’s lives, including his own, by ignoring his training and ethics. When asked by Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence how Harrison Ford was cast in the show, Segel said that Goldstein initially wanted a “Harrison Ford type,” and was going to audition people who looked like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that he thought he would at least bring it to Ford, but at least he would get the word out that Harrison Ford had brought the project to him, generating interest from other famous actors.
And the rest of the show is great
Eventually, Goldstein spoke to Ford and sold him the role. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he’s excited nonetheless. Featured in WatchMojo: The 10 Best TV Shows of 2023 (So Far) (2023). Jason Segel is a perfect fit for this script.
And Jessica is perfect
He has the kind of weird, idiotic confidence that the role requires. Her humor is perfect for the dialogue. This is the new way of situation dramas. No real punch lines, just dealing with quirky personalities and slightly more than normal but still relatable family situations.
You’d lose your license immediately
Of course, Jimmy’s behavior as a therapist is completely absurd. No way. But we allow metaphorical moments in the drama. And in this script, we feel a strong sense of purpose in the decisions.
Other reviewers, apparently, struggled
We should reward writers and try to get the gist. For me, it’s easy and fun.
